SYRIA : The opposition has seized control of Damascus, leading to the assertion that al-Assad has been ousted.

Syria's armed opposition has declared that their forces have taken control of the capital, Damascus, and that President Bashar al-Assad has fled the city, with his current location remaining unknown. Abu Mohammed al-Julani, the commander of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, stated that all governmental institutions will continue to operate under the oversight of al-Assad's prime minister until an official transfer of power occurs. These announcements follow a rapid offensive in which opposition groups captured multiple cities. A statement released earlier in the evening, endorsed by Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Turkiye, and Russia, characterized the situation as a "dangerous development" and urged for a political resolution.
